Really want to like this app but the UI stands in the way. Unnecessary delayed transitions, inconsistent colors, art obscured by captions, and bad toolbar icons. Could also use easier way to switch between view and thumbnails. And oh the iPad edition even worse !

These pictures are of awful quality, and THE CAPTION BARS NEED TO GO AWAY!!!!!!!!! The pictures are hard to see. Other apps just have the picture and you just swipe to get the next one. I really dont need to be reminded every single picture of what type of painting Im looking at. It would be sufficient to see the paintings name and the artist by tapping the screen. If you are looking for a specific painting or artist, it would be easier and cheaper to go on the web.

Nice renditions of art works spanning the decades. I enjoy the ability to begin a slideshow, and either view a period, or have it randomly show me great works of art along with the pertinent info. If you are a art fan, pick up this app!

Great idea and executed well but only one Salvador Dali piece? When we see more from him, this will be an impeccable app.

Ive really enjoyed using this app since I downloaded it. I have found myself wishing it had a favorites feature, so you could save your favorite pieces to a folder within the app. Also theres something buggy about the surrealism section. All the titles are messed up and there are hardly any images. Other than those two small things I am very pleased.

i have the iphone 4S and once i updated the images would not display anymore. kept getting some strange message like "images too small/big for settings" or something like that. i deleted the update and reinstalled the older version from my laptop and the images were back! i love this app and i especially love looking at the works of john copley...aaahhh, but the update didnt love me. 5 stars for the app, but 1 for the update.

Its slow, one must wait 3-5 seconds for each pic to load, quite irritating I must say. Overall needs to be rectified.

Despite the reputation and status of this app, it is surprisingly limited. The name really has to be incorrect!! Two of my favorite artists have ZERO, yes ZERO paintings listed, Rene Magritte and Salvador Dali are not listed in the Surrealism section, they are both surrealists!! I am sure many many other obscure artists can not be possibly be in this app if those two universally known artists are absent from this app. How can they call this app Art Authority?!! Additionally, I searched the app thoroughly and could not find a place that you can actually search by the artist name or painting name by typing the name. How complicated or difficult can it be to add this feature, really how can this be missing!!!

Do not buy this app

The content is great, but the user-interface of this app looks pretty old. The main problem is that swiping is unresponsive. It just triggers the slooow display of the next image as opposed to following your finger.

Theres really no excuse for including so few female artists in this app. Do you need help researching; there are plenty of them from the neoclassical period on, and a few others before them as well.Also, youve lumped the neoclassical period together with the late Baroque and early Romantic periods. Where are the Russian artists? Why so few examples of modern art from the 1950s on? Your app is really good, but these oversights are inexcusable and unfair.

The app refuses to just download the encyclopedia of all images so it does so on the fly instead and this of course renders it so slow that the highly pixelated thumbnails take forever to load for each and every artist. Then theres no way to favorite genius or defavor scribble art. Ill find a web site instead, I guess. Actually, Art Authority is everything this broken app should be, and is actually fast and thus fully usable. Wikipaintings is also too slow for reasonable browsing.

For what its worth, this app is pretty good. I cant find another app that collects and displays art in the same easy-going manner. However, it has that NetFlix problem where when you want to check out all the artists, they seemingly give you ten to twenty artists to check out. Its bizarre. Plus, wheres the art from today? Theres so cool stuff out there, and Im sure theres a data base for it. Ive been to college, bro.

Great app, BUT DESPERATELY NEEDS A SEARCH OPTION! Pleeeeeeease add a SEARCH option! Thank you.

I really enjoy this app, especially because it links artists and specific works to Wikipedia articles, which has completely saved me in my European culture class. It has a really nice interface and there is SO MUCH ART on this app. Along with being able to look through time periods and movements, the user can also look at different counties of origin, etc. the problem I have with it is the modern and contemporary art section. There is no information and has many flaws. Often, a work will not even have its name displayed, much less the year created or the medium. As an art/history student, this would be more valuable to me. Ive had this app for a while and this problem has persisted. Please update!

Maybe Ill start using the app now that its so much better. Havent really tried it out yet.

I saw this app recommended by B&Hs photography webinar series from Rodriguez. Id been looking for an app like this that shows artistic works from the past in my mobile. Sure I can Google but I want something that has collated the major works. This app solves my needs.

This app exceeded my expectations. I recommend everyday.

The app wont update or let me delete it. Cant even open it. Its just stuck on my screen. I was hoping to use this for my classes, but its useless just sitting there on my screen. Ive tried everything except wiping out my phone - which Im not doing.

I want my money back. I just downloaded this app for my iPhone. It says NO internet connection. Everything else on my iPhone, iPad, iMac works just fine. I tested my interconnection and it is working fine with 20 Mbps download speed This App is AWFUK. DO NOT DOWNLOAD this App tilt hey fix it
