Pros and cons of Art Authority app for iPhone and iPad

Art Authority app good for

Complete and very interesting and useful app, contents Are organized in periods and styles! Great job
AMAZING....EXHAUSTIVE.....WONDERFUL....ART LOVERS REJOICE... A TERRIFIC COLLECTION
Dont get suckered into buying this if you already have Art Envi; they appear to be the same. This is NOT the iPad version!
I like that! Now I dont nedd to waste my time for looking for these drawing!
I was a little skeptical based on some reviews but I bought this anyway Im so glad cause it works perfectly for me on my iPhone. I love how the "shows" work. I also appreciate the tutorials and all the immense work these developers took on to bring this to us. Getting information on a painting or artist is smooth and quick. I was wary of the resolution but the paintings look great here even when I zoom in. Plus the library of artists is HUGE and I like how the artists are grouped into time periods and movements. Very organized. Im gonna use this app alot! Best art history app on iTunes. However, one of my favorite painters, Alice Neel, is a glaring omission. Her figurative and portrait work, besides being brilliant, was very rebellious in the 50s through the 70s when Expressionism and Pop Art made painting the figure unfashionable. She should be included in this app. When shes added Ill give this 6 stars.
I just bought this app for my Mac as well. It allows me to refresh my knowledge especially for the time line. I hope there will be updates that will bring the missing paintings. I love it. I recommend it. I was hoping for an App like this. Thank you.

Some bad moments

There are some visual glitches while using the app. Some visual components of the app, like the icons on the home screen are low definition, which looks ugly. Finally, please change this awful logo of the app!
This app crashes more than any other app I have ever bought. This must be fixed, or it was a total waste of $5
This appears exactly the same as Art Envi. They never tell you that it is...nor do they tell you it isnt. Instead they entice you to spend your dollars 2x on the same app with different names. Apple should do something about this.
The quality of the images is unbearable. Its an iphone for Gods sake, not a 46 inch plasma. I would expect that at least on a 4 inch to see an image without seeing the pixels. In fact, the pixels are so big that it takes away a large part of the joy of viewing representations of paintings. And remember, this is painting, where color and detail make the whole difference. I understand that this is an iphone and that the resolution is optimized for it. But it is not optimized. The quality is well below what is even acceptable. It does not take a large amount of pixels to have a clear image on an iphone. This app fails utterly at what it tries to accomplish, which is give some pleasure to the user without frustration Dont waste your money!
Really want to like this app but the UI stands in the way. Unnecessary delayed transitions, inconsistent colors, art obscured by captions, and bad toolbar icons. Could also use easier way to switch between view and thumbnails. And oh the iPad edition even worse !
These pictures are of awful quality, and THE CAPTION BARS NEED TO GO AWAY!!!!!!!!! The pictures are hard to see. Other apps just have the picture and you just swipe to get the next one. I really dont need to be reminded every single picture of what type of painting Im looking at. It would be sufficient to see the paintings name and the artist by tapping the screen. If you are looking for a specific painting or artist, it would be easier and cheaper to go on the web.
